One of my favorite things about being a life coach is being an amazing people spotter. I love to look at the world and people around me and see things that are out of the ordinary. A few years ago, I was at a yoga class and I saw another student in class. I watched him and thought.....that guy is crazy. In my world, crazy is a compliment. I got his attention and said “you're crazy, aren't you?” and he smiled and said “yep”.
It turns out that Tony also teaches yoga and karate. Tony has a masters degree, is a 7th degree black belt and has owned a karate studio for over 30 years. Tony is SUPER fit. TONY is 50 years old!
My favorite thing about Tony is his personality. He is incredibly entertaining. My son Beckett attends his karate school and lights up around him. Tony has an ability to think like a child during class time. He can hold the attention of small children, crack jokes and teach important lessons at the same time. His jokes aren't just kid jokes because I sit there and laugh, too. I'm very motivated to continue paying Tony monthly for Beckett and myself because we have so much fun. The other great thing is that Tony also lets his students help teach classes. Beckett seems to be a natural leader after observing Tony and being guided. I am close to tears of joy as I watch my son teaching students in the class below his belt, especially because my son is just 7 years old.
Tony is also a very unique yoga teacher. He has a loyal group of students in his regular classes at a popular fitness center. I allow him to make fun of my slip ups as well as the few poses I'm good at. He runs a tough class and if I am going to challenge myself to the point of burning muscles while sweat drips into my eyes in a crowded, heated room, I want to be laughing inside.
Tony is an amazing person because he has accepted himself, has been working on personal growth for many years, has used the world around him to learn, does not take things personally, appreciates people for who they are and has found a place in life where he can be happy as well as serve others.
